Short information about VRVis

Why are Virtual Reality (VR) and Visualization (Vis) important?

 

VR & Vis are communications key-technologies through the use of the eye as "the broadband access to the brain"

  • we are over flooded by data
  • want so see and experience things before they are really existing
  • want to judge past and future today
  • want to understand and decide everything fast and fully

 

Therefore we need easy to look at, manageable and intuitive understandable "pictures". The VRVis Forschungs-GmbH is an international renowned and Austrias leading institute for applied research in the area of virtual reality and visualization.

VRVis was funded through the Kplus programm by the Austrian federal government and the City of Vienna and later by the "Vienna Spots of Excellence" program of the ZIT. Since 2010 VRVis is a COMET Competence Center. Also a number of projects are realized with other fundings like FIT-IT Visual Computing, Bridge, ZIT, etc. The Vienna University of Technologies, the University of Technology in Graz and industrial stakeholders are engaged at VRVis.
