MulSimVis

Visualization of Multi-Physics-Simulation The project "Visualisierung von Multiphysik-Simulationen" (MulSimVis) deals with the visualization of simulations, where an interaction between flows and solids takes place. The aim is an enhanced visualization, as well as the presentation and analysis of those interactions, especially in the field of filter- and crude oil deposit simulations.

The computer-supported investigation of physical/chemical processes (like combustion processes or structure-deformation) gain more importance in the area of modern product engineering and analysis of complex phenomena. So far those processes were examined separately or just loosely linked. A new technology will be developed within this project, which brings solutions for end-linked Fluid-Structure-Interactions and solutions for problems in the crude-oil deposit-simulations. For that purpose proper extension of simulation methods and new methods for interactive visual analysis will be researched and developed.

The market for Computational-Fluid-Dynamics (CFD) calculations has a growth rate of 20% yearly! The computer-supported simulation getting more and more attractive due to the shorter development-times and due to the fact, that prototype-development is getting more expensive. There are a lot of companies that are still not using simulation-software, because of the high license costs. The combination of an open-source solution with an interactive post-processing/visualization tool will lead to a more widely used and attractive product.
