Senior Researcher

Sophia Ulonska studied Mathematics and the University of Vienna as well as Biomedical Engineering at the Vienna University of Technology. Afterwards she did her doctorate in the field of bioprocess engineering in the group of Prof. Christoph Herwig at the TU Vienna on the development and application of mechanistic bioprocess models. Since 2019 she is working at VRVis in the Biomedical Image Informatics group. She develops machine learning and deep learning algorithms in the field of computational neuroscience and for classification of anatomical structures in medical image data. In 2019 she was nominated for the Hedy Lamarr Award of the City of Vienna.
