Two awards go to VRVis at this year's IEEE VIS in Phoenix, Arizona (USA)!
Harald Piringer (VRVis), Holger Stitz, Samuel Gratzl and Marc Streit received a Best Poster Award (VAST) for their contribution "Provenance-Based Visualization Retrieval". Their poster was selected by the jury from 22 submissions.
The jury's statement: "This poster addresses the highly relevant problem of analytical provenance and takes a novel, creative approach in constructing provenance graphs that capture interaction processes and states of visualizations. These graphs and the suggested vector space approach enable analysts to search through and retrieve a large number of complex analysis situations, addressing a prominent gap in existing exploratory data analysis solutions. The poster also presents early designs of interaction mechanisms and visualisations where provenance graphs are effectively incorporated. With its novel approach to capturing and utilizing analytical provenance, the panel thinks that the presented research is expected to have significant impact on further research within interactive visual data analysis."
The Best Poster - VAST Challenge Choice Award goes to Silvana Podaras (VRVis), Michael Beham (VRVis), Rainer Splechtna (VRVis), Denis Gračanin (Virginia Tech) and Krešimir Matković (VRVis) for the poster "Holistic Analysis of Heterogeneous Datasets".
