Katharina Krösl leads the immersive analytics research area at VRVis since the fall of 2022 As a highly sought-after national and international collaborator in application-oriented XR projects, as well as in the scientific community, she succeeds in combining an interdisciplinary approach at eye level, which brings together participants from a wide range of fields and industries, and scientific excellence, which she repeatedly demonstrates in the context of conferences and excellent publications, to develop technological solutions that have an immediate practical impact.
For her remarkable achievements as a researcher as well as in the promotion of women and young scientists in the field of computer science, for example as a founding member of the Austria Section of IEEE Women in Engineering, she was awarded the Liese Prokop Women's Award of the Province of Lower Austria on October 19, 2022, during a festive gala at the Congress Center Baden. The prize, which was awarded for the fifth time, is aimed at women with a connection to Lower Austria who stand out due to their extraordinary commitment as well as their success in a field that is not typical for women, thus becoming important role models for more gender equality in all areas of life.
