The participatory Horizon2020 research project ARCHES, coordinated by VRVis, pursues making museums and art education more accessible through key enabling technologies. The project has now been awarded the renowned Heritage in Motion (HIM) Award in the category "Apps and Interactive" for the innovative solutions it has developed.
The multimedia competition Heritage in Motion already has a long tradition of honoring the most outstanding examples of innovative multimedia and digital projects dedicated to Europe's cultural heritage. Each year, awards are presented to the best projects that use media and technology to make Europe's artistic and cultural heritage more accessible and tangible in new ways for new audiences. The ARCHES project ("Accessible Resources for Cultural Heritage EcoSystems") is an ideal example of this, as the award proves: This unique EU-funded project, which brought together twelve European institutions from the fields of art, technology and science, has jointly developed software solutions, apps, and devices that already increase the accessibility of art institutions throughout Europe.
