The cross-sectional technology of visual computing offers an innovation toolbox to open the way into a sustainable future. A qualified translation of big data and complex challenges into interpretable images and low-threshold information that puts people at the center paves the way for a broad alliance of science, business, politics and the public for the "sustainabilization" of future solutions. Visual computing is the necessary bridging technology that connects computers with people and supports them on their way to a sustainable future.
Successful cutting-edge research does not happen behind closed doors, but in a continuous dialogue between science, industry and society - that is why we are opening our doors to the public on June 30, 2022 from 14.00-17.00. In low-threshold demos, the VRVis science team will present Austrian top-level research and domestic Sustainable Solutions directed along the UN's 17 SDGs. From hydrodynamic simulations that help to develop climate change adaptation strategies for extreme weather events or transform cities into resilient Sponge Cities, to data visualization that facilitates predictive maintenance for older hydropower plants, to Artificial Intelligence solutions that support modern radiology to work in a faster, more explainable and at the same time more human-centered way, or even XR solutions that offer collaborative-immersive applications for challenges that so far were strongly limited in space and time.
