The IEEE VIS 2019 conference took place in Vancouver from 20 to 25 October 2019. VRVis attended with two papers and its own booth. Andreas Walch, researcher in our Geospacial Visualization, Semantic Modelling and Acquisition group, presented his paper "LightGuider: Lighting Interactive Lighting Design using Suggestions, Provenance, and Quality Visualization" on October 23 at the paper session on "Planning and Situational Awareness". He also had the opportunity to present the paper to an even larger audience in the lecture series "Fast Forward". Furthermore, Kresimir Matkovic, head of our Interactive Visualization group, contributed the paper "Comparison of Radial and Linear charts for Visualizing Daily Patterns" presented by Manuela Waldner (TU Vienna) to the paper session on "What's the Difference?".
Johanna Schmidt, researcher of our Visual Analytics group, additionally informed the international scientific community about our work and research activities at our VRVis booth.
Eduard Gröller, Key Researcher at VRVis and Professor at the Institute of Visual Computing & Human-Centered Technology (VC HCT) at the TU Vienna, was honored with the "2019 Visualization Technical Achievement Award" and was also admitted to the "IEEE Visualization Academy", which is considered to be the highest and most renowned honor in the field of visual computing.
