Patents are key components of both economic and scientific progress and are considered in many places to be the "hardest currency" of corporate innovation. In order to highlight the great potential of patented research results and solutions, the business magazine Trend and the ÖGVS - Society for Consumer Studies have presented the Innovation Award for the first time this year to Austrian companies and research institutions with particularly high patent activity.
In the category "Data Processing; Calculating or Counting" of the International Patent Classification, VRVis took first place with its patent solutions in 2018 and 2019, which were developed from application-oriented research, and was awarded the Special Prize of the Innovation Award 2020/2021.
Since its foundation in 2000, VRVis has been strongly committed to the use of patents for the perpetuation of applied research work. The cooperations with our partners from science, medicine and industry have already resulted in over 20 patents. The spectrum of patented solutions is broad and ranges from applications in biomedicine to innovative IT solutions for the barrier-free museum of the future.
