On October 20, 2022, VRVis was recognized as one of the winning projects of the WWTF call "Roadmaps Digital Humanism" during the Digital Days of DigitalCity.Wien. For VRVis, the funding of the creation and implementation of a Digital Humanism roadmap marks a successful launch point on the way to defining and establishing new research paths and ways of thinking connecting visual computing - inside and outside of VRVis - even more strongly with humanism, ethics, and sensual comprehension.
As a cross-sectional technology that makes data, information and, above all, complex interrelationships visible and comprehensible through visualization like no other, visual computing has always been an essential link between humans and digitalization. The guiding principles of Digital Humanism, which place the benefit and meaning of technology for people at the center of innovation and development, reflect here in the best possible way the core mission of VRVis to focus on human benefit and practical applicability as the heart of all research work. Within the project "DIVICO - Digital Humanism with Visual Computing", VRVis will work together with DDr. Erich Prem, a specialist in digital humanism and data ethics, to develop strategies for making visual computing and related fields as useful as possible for digital humanism, as well as to make the potential and benefits of digital humanism more visible and applicable for the entire VRVis team and all partner institutions.
