This year's IEEE VR 2020 did not take place in Atlanta from 22 to 26 March 2020 as planned, but due to the worldwide coronavirus situation it was held as an online conference. With the possibility to participate virtually from home in the most important international event for the presentation of research results in the field of VR/XR, this year there were more participants from all over the world than ever before.
Katharina Krösl, researcher in our Geospatial Visualization, Semantic Modelling and Acquisition group, also participated in the conference from her home office as an avatar and won the Best Research Demo Award with the live demo of her research project "XREye".
In this project, Katharina Krösl focuses on how to simulate visual impairments and eye diseases with the help of VR and XR.
