The Brainstorms Festival took place for the first time in Vienna from 27 to 28 September 2019. The two-day event invited renowned scientists from all over the world to discuss the future of human-oriented technologies.
Katja Bühler, head of our Biomedical Image Informatics research group, was part of the panel "Transformations of Diagnostics in the next 5 years" on September 27. Among other things, she discussed with other experts how artificial intelligence can be used for diagnosis in the future and how doctors can be helped to concentrate on the "most important" images, for example images with cancerous cells. In addition, the important issue of privacy for patients - for example in the context of digital medical records - was also addressed.
