On May 29, 2018, the first Applied Artificial Intelligence Conference 2018 took place in Vienna, which was initiated by the WKO. More than 500 developers, companies and stakeholders from politics and business took part in this conference. VRVis was also represented on the podium. Dr Katja Bühler was a speaker at the panel "Image recognition". In addition, the research group leaders from the fields of Visual Analytics, Data Science and Biomedical Image Informatics networked in numerous B2B meetings with potential customers from all over Austria.
Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant future topic. Deep learning, machine learning or neural networks are already increasing the productivity of companies from all industrial sectors and even opening up new business areas that have never been seen before. The aim of the event was to bring Austrian companies closer to the topic of AI in an application-focused approach. Developers and users of solutions are networked with potential users, and a realistic professional exchange about the application of artificial intelligence in practice is made possible.
At VRVis, several researchers are working on neural networks and AI algorithms. Thanks to our many years of expertise in the field of artificial intelligence, we can already look back on numerous successful projects in this field. Recently, an AI algorithm developed by our Biomedical Image Informatics team has been used in medical facilities in Dubai to accelerate the work of radiologists. Machine Learning is also used in our Visual Analytics and Data Science research group.
