Visual computing - turning data into images and information

Our research focus at VRVis is visual computing: we present data, connections, and questions in the best possible visual and interactive form to make decisions easier. Images are a universal means of communication. Who sees, understands.

As a COMET Competence Center, our mission at VRVis is to build a bridge from science to industry. In basic research, our seven specialized groups work on visionary solutions and new findings in the field of high technology. Our researchers regularly publish in high impact publications and give lectures at international conferences. VRVis employees have received several awards for their groundbreaking research work. Also, over 20 patents have already been applied for at VRVis.

In applied industrial projects, we advance the state-of-tech and thus help our industry partners to achieve a decisive technological lead. Our research topics range from data science and computer vision to artificial intelligence and virtual reality.

In addition to our own basic research, we work closely with the TU Wien, the TU Graz, and the University of Vienna. Together we form one of the largest research clusters in Europe specializing in visual computing. Besides our close collaboration with these three universities, we also cooperate with a number of international research institutions, such as the University of Stuttgart and the University of Utah.
