In order to learn skills for the correct inspection and safety assessment of an ammunition storage facility, various typical ammunition storage facilities and ammunition storage objects are realistically represented in which trainees can move freely and learn the correct handling of ammunition - and without restricting the operation of an actual ammunition storage facility. All the usual work steps can be simulated and learned safely: This includes dealing with access control, opening individual bunkers to inventorying and sealing individual ammunition boxes. An important competence component is also the handling of measuring tools and checklists, which are part of the risk analysis and safety training. For this, a virtual ammunition depot has been developed, which is equipped with various training scenarios. The trainees can, for example, be confronted with faulty warehouse conditions and learn to assess them correctly.
This VR application for training correct ammunition storage will be integrated into training on safe ammunition storage in national and international courses. It will support both instructional sections and evaluation processes to provide trainees with both experiential learning and performance review.
