Many young people use the summer to gain their first practical experience away from university or school - whether in a holiday internship, a student internship or a pupil internship. At VRVis the promotion of young people is a top priority. Therefore, VRVis enables several interns each year to immerse themselves in the world of research and to gain their first experience in virtual reality, visualization, data science or administration.
In August 2020, two pupils are taking the opportunity to learn functional programming in the GeoSMAQ research group during their summer internship. Interns Sofie and Melih have also spent their work experience days at VRVis in previous years.
Two computer science students support our Visual Analytics research group. Under the mentorship of Johanna Schmidt, head of the Visual Analytics group, they assist in industry projects. This helps the students to deepen the theoretical knowledge from their studies and apply it in a real-world scenario.
The operation of a successful research centre also includes the administration, which ensures the smooth running of human resources, controlling, innovation management or science communication. Summer intern Alexandra works in July and August in the administration and provides valuable support in accounting.
