Johannes Novotny gets awarded with the IEEE VR 2024 Best Paper Award.
Johannes Novotny is a researcher in the Biomedical Image Informatics group at VRVis. He received the Best Paper Award at IEEE VR 2024 for his paper "Evaluating Text Reading Speed in VR Scenes and 3D Particle Visualizations".
The VRVis researcher presented his award-winning publication at the conference in Florida. Together with a colleague, Johannes Novotny investigated how the parameters of VR hardware (e.g. screen resolution) and various text display options affect reading speed.
The 31st IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces took place from 16 to 21 March 2024 at the Disney Contemporary Resort in Orlando with the slogan "Explore the Virtual Frontier!"

Award-winning research
The IEEE VR Best Paper Awards recognize outstanding papers published and presented at the IEEE VR Conference. During the review process, only 3% of submissions are selected by the Program Committee Chairs to receive an award. From these selected papers, the separate Conference Awards Selection Committee chooses those to be honored with a Best Paper Award, which is only 1% of the total submissions.
