The Hedy Lamarr Preis of the City of Vienna honors female computer science researchers whose work is creative and innovative. Katharina Krösl is an expert in the field of Extended Reality (XR) and develops solutions in the area of visual perception with a focus on accessible design in public spaces. In doing so, Katharina Krösl is breaking new ground, especially when it comes to using informatics and technology for more inclusion and accessibility in our society - an important contribution to achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As part of one of her projects, XREye, Katharina Krösl's research actively supports SDG 3 "Health and well-being", SDG 9 "Innovation" and SDG 10 "Reduce inequalities".
The Hedy Lamarr Preis is endowed with 10,000 euros and will be awarded on November 21, 2023, during the Digital Days at the Technical Museum Vienna. An independent jury of experts will evaluate the research achievements and projects of the four female scientists and finally decide on the winner.
