Simulation technology from VRVis & Zumtobel optimizes illumination for Croatian UEFA stadium
In order to create a pleasant ambiance for events in the new Opus Arena for up to 13,000 visitors, VRVis and Zumtobel Lighting supported the building project with its lighting simulations. The first soccer match in the stadium was kicked off on July 22, 2023, with precise and atmospheric lighting in the whole area.
As a UEFA Category 4 stadium, the recently opened Opus Arena in Osijek, Croatia, has to meet certain infrastructure standards, especially with regard to the lighting of the soccer field. In the course of the construction project, long-term cooperation partners Zumtobel and VRVis have contributed their expertise in creating lighting solutions for complex architectures. The basis for this are, besides other aspects, high-quality simulations, which can visualize dynamic and interactive lighting concepts in real time. These lighting simulations provide a realistic preview of a wide range of lighting situations for the building interior and the surrounding area.
Full solution for interior and exterior lighting of the pitch and surrounding areas
The new home stadium of FC Osijek is impressive: In terms of lighting, the Opus Arena has a comprehensive overall concept that uses powerful LED floodlighting for sports and areal lighting from high masts. The 196 floodlights are flicker-free for HDTV broadcasting and offer many different optical configurations. They can be pivoted, providing a precise and uniform illumination for a large area.
With the illumination of the Opus Arena, VRVis partner Zumtobel Lighting has already realized its second project in Osijek. In 2017, the daughter company acdc completed the redesign of the 35-meter high pedestrian bridge in the Croatian city with a dynamic full-color lighting concept.
