Fire in a trash can? Oil in the pan starts to catch fire? The Christmas tree is burning? The best way to extinguish a fire is something that should - and must - be learned! Under the title "Are you still afraid of fire, or do you already know what to do thanks to virtual reality?", VRVis invites visitors of all ages to practice fire fighting in virtual reality during the Long Night of Research 2022.
Fire safety training helps to make everyday life safer, but it is expensive, complicated, and dangerous. A lifelike simulation in virtual reality offers the perfect solution here: In the VR application, the handling of a fire extinguisher and the correct behavior in case of fire can be trained in a playful way using different scenarios and without danger for people and the environment. Moreover, it is a cost-effective and sustainable alternative that does not consume resources and does not involve any risk.
By physically approximating fire growth, users experience a realistic and immersive learning environment. The different scenarios, such as the spread of a fire in a living room, can be controlled by an external supervisor for professional learning feedback. The training experience is low-threshold, interactive, and playful - with sustainable learning success.
